what if what happened didn't happen?
Dec. 5th, 2023 07:36 pmIn this post are details for a Post-Heavensward AU Timeline in which certain events occurred differently. If you are a new player to FFXIV and haven't reached the end of Heavensward, BE AWARE THERE WILL BE BIG SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT. I only use this AU as an option when memeing.
Following being lanced through the chest by that asshole Zephirin, Haurchefant survives.
Alphinaud manages to pull him back from the brink, BARELY, and he spends much of the conclusion of the Dragonsong War either unconscious or being confined to bed rest. He drives the chirurgeons up the wall because he keeps trying to get up and leave.
After he's allowed up he's never really quite the same, but not to the point where he can't do anything anymore (because being a knight is his life and if he had to spend the rest of his life unable to do knight things he would be utterly miserable).
He ends up having to turn his thoughts more to home rather than adventuring and chasing after the WoL, and after he spends some time in the Sea of Clouds rehabilitating and keeping Emmanellain out of trouble (the latter of which keeps him from getting too restless, because he loves his dumbass brother) he goes back to Ishgard and puts that enthusiasm of his to work in putting his beloved country back together.
Post-HW Haurchefant is still brash and brave, sometimes ridiculously so, but with everything that is going on even if he would sometimes think of going haring off after the WoL he knows his duties lie at home (he's just ridiculously bouncy and overjoyed when they come back to visit).
